Vanda

and

related genera

The vandaceous orchids include the genera of Vanda, Aerides, Ascocentum, Neofinetia, Micropera, and others.  They are characterized by a bilateral growth of leaves on a central stem.  The bloom spike projects from a leaf overlap in this growth configuration.  For the most part, the blooms are long lasting and extremely colorful.
